The Great Drawing Project of 2022 was Annie’s attempt to connect with readers and keep herself sane in the months leading up to the publication of her novel Unlikely Animals.

Between the months of December 2021 and April 2022, Annie offered free custom drawings to anyone who preordered Unlikely Animals from an independent bookstore. All told, she made 457 drawings of animals and 1 portrait of Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She wrote an essay on LitHub on what drawing for friends and strangers has meant to her.

Unfortunately, Annie can no longer give drawings away, because she’s really supposed to be writing another book. She is sorry about this.

Annie does draw on commission, so if you’d like a drawing, you can reach out through the contact form. Price is $50 for a drawing — as long as it’s not something elaborate, like a dragon eating a baby. That would cost much more. And why do you want a drawing of a dragon eating a baby, anyway??
